Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is a sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong and the fifth film in the MonsterVerse franchise

Cast: Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle

Director: Adam Wingard

Language: English

In the previous part of the Monsterverse, Godzilla vs. Kong, we see Kong and Godzilla acknowledging each other and taking separate paths after coming together to defeat Mechagodzilla.

In the latest part of the Monsterverse, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire
we see Kong settling in the Hollow Earth, where he is alone and desperate to find his family. Dr Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall), who works for Monarchs, sets up a station to monitor Kong’s movements in Barbados and keep a hole open to travel to Hollow Earth in case of emergency.

Jia (Kaylee Hottle), who is the last member of the Iwi tribe is enrolled in school by Irene but finds it difficult to adjust on earth. The little girl senses something and draws random spikes, which weirdly match with seismograph patterns from Hollow Earth. While she understands that comparing these two things is weird and crazy, Irene meets Bernie (Brian Tyree Henry) as she thinks he is the only person, who will accept this theory.

In a sudden situation, an emergency arises in Barbados, where Ilene leaves along with Bernie. Simultaneously, in the Hollow Earth, Kong discovers an unchartered area named Subterranean Realm and shocks to see his fellow species members, who are treated as slaves by Skar King (an ape who is as tall as Kong).

Simultaneously, Godzilla gets activated and starts to extract energy from different sources to get the desired power. This action by the giant lizard leaves monarchs in shock, they get the hint of something big coming up. And what’s that? Watch Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire to get the answer.

Director Adam Wingard has managed to weave an engaging narrative along with several whistle-worthy moments and larger-than-life elements, which will make you cheer for both the Titans. While the story thus looks complicated, the filmmaker successfully executes in the simpler way to make sure the audience connects with all his prominent characters and Titans. The VFX of the movie is top-notch with battles between the Titans being the biggest highlight.

Rebecca Hall is superb as Ilene. Her emotional bond with Kaylee Hottle will melt your heart. Brian Tyree Henry is super entertaining with Dan Stevens (Trapper), Fala Chen (Iwi Queen) and Alex Ferns (Mikael) landing able support.

On the whole, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is a visual spectacle filled with massy moments and has the huge potential to surprise everyone at the Indian box office.
