NEW DELHI: In her first public address following the arrest, CM Arvind Kejriwal‘s wife, Sunita, relayed a message that conveyed Kejriwal’s assertion that he would not remain detained for an extended period and pledged to return to fulfill his commitments to the people of Delhi.
“Whether in jail or outside, every moment of my life is dedicated to the country’s service.Every drop of my blood is dedicated to the country,” she said, quoting Kejriwal.
In her subsequent address, she mentioned Kejriwal’s intention to disclose the whereabouts of funds allegedly involved in the “so-called excise policy scam” during court proceedings.
Highlighting her husband’s perspective, Sunita remarked on the Enforcement Directorate’s extensive investigations, including numerous raids, yielded no financial discoveries from prominent figures such as Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain and Sanjay Singh over the past two years.
A former IRS officer, Sunita has maintained a distance from active political engagement. She delivered the message from the same office within the CM’s residence, a space frequently utilized by the CM for digital media interactions.
Arvind Kejriwal, presently in Enforcement Directorate custody since March 21, faces allegations related to money laundering associated with Delhi’s excise policy.
The Rouse Avenue court in Delhi has extended his custody till April 1, following his appearance in court at the conclusion of the ED’s custodial period. The court also dismised a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking the removal of Arvind Kejriwal from his position as Delhi’s chief minister.
